  1. I have a 3.5 gb .mov file that i would like to turn into an svcd. Normally this isn't a problem, but i need to deinterlace it and nothing is working.

I tried ffmpegx with the deinterlace filter on, but it doesn't do a thing.

    any ideas?

If you've got Quicktime Pro, you can look under Properties/video, and change it to "Single Field." This will deinterlace (and make the resulting movie twice as big, so make sure you then do a "Save As...", choose "self-contained," and give the resulting file a new name.)
