Hi,
I just got a Pioneer DVR-106D burner and used XCopy to make a backup to DVD-r media. I have 2 players: 1 is a Sanyo player & the other is a Toshiba SD-1300Y. The backup played fine in the Sanyo, but won't play on the Toshiba.
I've since used "Decrypter" to do a single layer disc which plays in both ok, but I was wondering what software other people with Toshiba players are using to sucessfully backup & play dual layer discs to DVD-r
?
Thanks in advance

I have a Toshiba 3750 and a Pioneer 105 burner. I successfully use DVD XCopy Xpress and DVDShrink for my back-ups. Have also had success with DVDDecrypter. Occasional problems with DVDFab which may be my fault. I'm waiting for the next release to come out so I can evaluate it again. Did you use the same make of DVD-R for all of your backups? Some players are more sensitive to media type than others. Also did you use XCopy to burn the DVD or did you burn the files with a different program? Some DVD players are very fussy about the file structure on the disc.

Hi, sorry I couldn't get online for a few days....
I used XCopy Xpress & when I put the disc in my Toshiba player, it shows the backup screen then freezes everything - I can't even use the on/off button & have to power the player off at the switch.
I used the same media for both tests and yes, I used XCopy to burn the disc as well.....

My Toshiba SD-1800 has played every DVD-R I've made...with the exception of a Spiderman DVD Shrink mishap...I accidentally ripped the wrong audio out, set a few incorrect things to still image and I got a badly encoded, no audio version of Spiderman
For DVD-5...I rip and burn with DVD Decrypter. For DVD-9, I use DVD Shrink after ripping the disc with DVD Decrypter, then I burn it in Nero Express 5.5.10.50. Thus far Ritek G04 DVD-R's burnt on an NEC ND-1300A, and TDK 2X DVD-R burnt on my Pioneer DVR-104 have played back flawlessly, as well as the Optodisc DVD-RW that came with my burner. -
Hi guys,
This afternoon I've ripped a disc using Decrypter & then backed it up using DVD shrink v3.0 beta, then wrote using Copy to DVD - worked a treat - A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL. I have Nero but followed some instructions I found, once I've done a few I'll toy with Nero as well.
Is there any advantage to using Nero over CopytoDVD is they work?
Thanks again
K
