  1. Is it possible to burn a DVD-R disc as a regular data disc? I wouldn't mind having 4.5gb of mp3s stored on a single disc at all...

Yes, you may burn the DVD-R as a data disc but:

    1. It must be in one session ("finished") as multi-session is not supported.

    2. It may not show up in your DVD player's "menu screen" as would an ISO mps CD. Then again, it might; depends on your player.

It should work fine as a data disc in your computer. Not sure about playback speed. YMMV. If this is simply for backing up your mp3's, absolutely!

  4. I just made an mp3 disc myself recently with nero. Works quite well in my Toshiba 3900.

  5. All DVDR disks are written as data disks. the only difference with a DVD-video is the files have to be in a folder called VIDEO_TS

  7. Or perhaps DVD-Ram.

It is a great format for data backup.

  8. Thanks a LOT! I've got over 40 data discs with mp3s on them, and would luv to compress that number while finlly re0ripping abunch of my old mp3s that I ripped back when 96kbps was still a slightly acceptable bitrate!
