  1. Hello Everyone, I am trying to build a new P4 2.66 GHz video editing system with I gig of Ram, two 80 gig HD and a DVD burner. I need advice on a nice motherboard not too expensive. Thanks

  2. I have always found Epox to be very good boards, very stable and very tweakable.

MSI has a host of good Pentium boards, many with some great onboard features. Some get pretty spendy though. I'm curious why you're being thrifty on a board when you're getting a P4? Why not get the cheaper AMD and splurge on a board with more features? Just an thought anyway...

  4. I have found Abit to be very good with excellent support and features.
They can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Lots of people have claimed Gigabyte boards to be good also.

I don't know if you are concerned about chipsets, but you are building a pretty nice system so get an i875 chipset (the newest chipset). If you do not want to pay extra for the i875 buy the i865 instead.

Do NOT buy the 845 chipset. The i865 is the least I would tell anyone with video editing in mind to get.

I am in the process of finishing my new system. It consists of :

    Intel P4 2.8
    2x200 WD Hard drives
1x120 Maxtor Hard drive for OS
    ATI Radeon 9600 pro
    Lite On 16x DVD-Rom
    Lite On CDRW
    External Sony DVD burner
    Asus P4P800 Deluxe

All I am waiting for is my Windows XP disc to arrive. That MB has the i865 chipset that pixel was talking about.

Here is a link for the mother board

I am suggesting that Mother board to you just as a friend I met on this site has recommended it to me. It supports everything that I was looking for in a MB.

    Good luck,

  8. I recently picked up a Gigabyte board and personally I think its great. Lots of room to add stuff, onboard USB 2.0, IE1934, 5 PCI card slots, AGP 8x, Serial ATA, 4 RAM slots, Onboard Intel LAN, makes me feel fuzzy just thinking about it.

Oh and get it from www.newegg.com as if you didnt already know
