Have an AVI file. G Spot tells me the video codec is MP43, audio is Code 0x0055 mp3 Frauhofer Layer 3 codec, bitrate 56kbs, 24000 Hz.
I can play the file successfully with windows media player. After converting it to mpeg1 i can still successfully play the file even with the vcd easy viewer, but when I burn to VCD I get no sound only crackles. I have tried converting with, TmpgEnc, Panasonic Encoder and even Nero Express all with the same result. No Sound
    What am I doing wrong?????

Had same problem. Thought, "Of course, it's stereo." Even opened it in an audio editor to be sure. Yup, it's ster....

    uh oh

I had an officially stereo audio file, but the audio was only on one track -- it varied which track, but always only on one track. I mixed the two tracks together, and voila, it worked!!

  4. I would suggest you use virtualdub to seperate the Audio from the the avi file. Convert it to mp2 128kb 41000hz.
Then encode both the video and the new Audio with TmpgEnc. This should fix the problem.
Basically VCD or SVCD standards require mp2 not mp3. surprised Nero even allowed you to burn it that way, must be an old version.
    Anyway hope that helps
