  1. Hey guys,

i bought a dvdwriter yesterday, and i haven't created anything yet so i'm still a complete noob. I have some svcd lying around and i would like to put them on a dvd but i was wondering how to do it. I already found out about the dvd lab method and was planning on trying that, but what happens with the switchable subs i have on my svcd, will they stay and will i be able to see them on my dvdplayer?

    Thanks!

  2. I would guess: No.

    What I think I know:
    - SVCDs support 2 different sub standards
    - SVCD subs are a private stream muxed in the mpg
    - DVD subs are a stream muxed in the VOB
    - Oscars method has you demux the m2v, fix the mpa
    - DVD-Lab does not support subs (unless the streams are already muxed)

However, There are about 10 guides on how to put svcds on a DVD:

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=SVCD+to+DVD&ossel...or+List+Guides

Maybe one can give you a clue. Also, there is a svcd2dvdmpg forum on the site. This may have some ideas.

My guess would be you have to demux the subs (don't recall how for svcd), and re-author with something like ifoedit. You could then used dvd-lab to create the menus (or even to fix the sound).

    Hope this helps !
