    Hi,

I have managed to create a 5.1dd DVD-R from avi files with AC3 (5 channels).

When I play the disk through my Home Theatre and TV the sound is very tinny & not quite right. This is very frustrating as it took me AGES to work out how to get 5.1dd on a DVD-R & I thought my troubles were over when Dolby D apeared on my amplifier when I played the disk!

    My process was as follows:

1: Run .avis file through VirtualDub Mp3-Freeze. Repair any bad frames.
2: Join the avi files together & extract wav
3: Fix the wav with Ac3Fix
4: Convert the avi to m2v with TMPGEnc Plus
5: Use the fixed ac3 file & m2v file in DVD Lab
6: Compile to DVD with DVD Lab
    7: Burn with Nero

As I mentioned, I do get what I have been craving from the above process but the 5.1 sound is just not quite right!

If anyone can help me & put me out of my misery it would be much appreciated!!

    Micol,
are you extracting the audio using Vdub? if so, what exactly are you doing?

I you're selecting audio -> full processing. File -> save wav
then you will get a stereo only file, and Vdub is perhaps not decoding it correctly (the tinny sound)
If you're selecting audio -> direct stream copy. File -> save wav then ok.

Is AC3Fix reporting any errors, or trying to repair anything?
