HI,
I have a movie that I ripped with DVD Decrypter and I did not get the IFO or the BUP files. To make matters worse I also renamed the VOB files for the main movie to read VTS_01_0.VOB to VTS_01_5.VOB. I took out all the extra information and kept just the movie. I want to save this movie so I have tried to re-author it
I have tried using;
DVD Fab
Create videomanager (navigation files)
Correct DVD sectors
When I follow this process with DVD Fab
Nero gives me write errors (DVD-Video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD might be unplayble. )
I have also tried
IFO Edit: (this program confuses the hell out of me)
Create IFO (takes about 15 minutes to go through the vob files)
Get VTS sectors
Nero gives me the same error message?
Can anyone shed some more light on this process for me- I don't seem to be getting the picture here.. I guess I need reauthoring for dummies?
I would ultimately like to start compiling my own vob files and adding titles but I can't seem to get past this reauthoring part..
thanks

first of all delete any ifo, bup and any other files except the vob files currently in the folder containing your vob files. now, open ifo edit click create new ifo's (along the bottom of the ifoedit window 4th button on the top row), locate your VTS_01_1.vob, tick the box thats says "destination directory for ifos ... same as source", hit ok, when proccessed close ifo edit (it is important that you close ifo edit), now reopen ifoedit , click open (bottom left corner) browse to the new ifo's that were created in the directory your vobs were in,click on the VIDEO_TS.ifo, click open, now click on the get vts sectors button and click ok (several times) when you have clicked all the oks that appeared close ifoedit burn the dvd it should work perfectly

I don't think he should keep the menu VOBS. If you are going to make new ifo's based on the VTS_1_01.vob, the menu vobs (usually the VTS_0_* files) do not need to be there.

Well if you are just backing up your personal copy then just re-rip them.
If you are not backing up your personal copy then you shouldn't be asking. -
