    Is there a free simple program that allows me to put “Front end” menus and chapters on DVD.

    You can get the 30 day free trial of DVD-Lab to do this.

    Then skip lunch for some of those days and buy it for $79, when the trial runs out.

    or

    Reformat your hard drive every 30 days to keep using the free trial.
    (That's what I do.)
