most of the site now seems to be dvd related and i wonder if a topic for "vcd only" and svcd only" would sort of take a little of the chaos out of some topics,if you know what i mean.

there seems to be posts within topics that range the gambit: ie: vcd, svcd,dv,dvd.......so you kind of have to sift through it all.

  2. I agree, people start their posts I am converting a file to bla bla bla. You always need to follow it up by saying "converting to what" as this will effect the entire method.

No problem with the idea, even if it is from tenders but...
....most of us have been the entire route (vcd, svcd and now dvd) and splitting it into three forums when you basically use the same/similar method for all three processes (I'm talking about capturing and converting now, not friggin' ripping!) might prove a pain.
You know, rather than scanning one forum to see if there's any posts you know the answer to, you now would have to scan three.
Just my ha'penny (sorry, just my two cents).

I agree with Will - the problems you can run into are similar, and mostly have the same solution, given the same source, regardless of what you're aiming for (VCD, SVCD or DVD). My impression is still that the heart of VCD/DVDRHelp is "how to convert between different video formats" even if it lately has been more frequent with hardware/media/ripping topics.

  5. Maybe a little indication at the start of the topic though like vcd, svcd or dvd. Might be hard to implicate with newbs though but I feel it would be beneficial.
