Hi!
anybody using laptop dvd writer compatible with both -RW and +RW format? Is there any such available in the market?

I haven't seen such a writer come either optional or standard as an internal device on a laptop. Your best bet is sticking with the DVD-R format which most commonly appears in laptops, and not worrying about DVD+R for now. I like both formats, by the way - for all the people that might think I'm discriminating against DVD+R

Buy your 'choice' external DVD writer and put it in either a USB2 or Firewire enclosure .

Its only 2x but its an internal Pioneer laptop burner. Its the same drive apple is using in their current powerbooks with DVD-Rs in them. Its expensive though, but then everything on a laptop tends to be. -
