I have the Pioneer DVR-105 in a Firewire case running on an iMac DV 400 576 ram running 9.2. The Burner does not spin when you put in blank -R media or DVD movies. I have used - Memorex, Apple, -CompUsa, and the media that came with the drive and none of them boot up. On the other hand, I put in cdr, cdrw, or audio cd's and the drive spins right up. I am running toast lite and the Pioneer DVR-105 is recognized. So my DVD burner burns the hell out of CD's and does nothing with DVD's. Staples will refund me because Cendyne is out of business and offers no support. Is that my best course of action? Or is there hope that the DVD drive somehow will work under different conditions?

sounds like it is either broken, or it isnt a DVD-R drive. I would get your money back and buy one elsewhere.
I strongly recommend the Formac Devidion.
