DRU-510A 1.0c Issue

I can burn whole DVD movies with Veritas RecordNow no problems
but cant seem to burn a data DVD...

Keep getting this ERROR straight after the test phase:

"Error -10 at Sector 2272 - Disc Read Error - Command:2A Sense:03 ASC:73 ASCQ:03"

Tried different discs (media) and different data (location/amount)

Im on a P4-3000 with a SATA RAID setup....

Ideas???

Your topic seems to indicate that this issue is just with firmware 1.0c. Did the previous firmware work ok?

How are you burning with RecordNow so it works? Is it an image? Are you making a data disc and dragging the VIDEO_TS folder?

You do not describe what program you are using to make a Data disc.

Please post more information.

I am interested because I have a Sony 510A also.
I have seen similar error when burning with a Princo DVD-R but it failed about half-way through.

I am trying to burn a 4X DVD-R with some data now and will let you know how that works.

Why you ask not to reply? Do you not want this problem solved?

it seems that recording a DATA cd at x4 gives the above error..

using x2 burns fine....

A DVD video disk *is* a DVD data disk, there's no difference.

Ok I burned onto a 4x DVD-R, 4 GB of DVD data (some jpg and raw files from my digital camera) using RecordNow DX 4.6 that comes with Sony 510A. No errors and disc is fine.

I did not use the wizard.

Note that I have the external version of the drive and have it hooked up with firewire. This could make a difference.

The Znet website is a tad critical about the unit Sony DRU510A not having Quote:
"a front-panel headphone jack, volume control and an audio-to-sound-card cable".
Any user out there got a view on this? These seem to be playback issues - not writing!! Or am I up the bongo as usual? What is a sound-card CABLE for and is it that pricey anyway. I'm new to this and way beyond pension age so it's a problem getting my head round all this stuff. Help please............................................ ...........soon. hardcore, i have the same problem, only at 2x, not at 4, same exact error message. gonna try and go back to old firmware to see if it helps.
