Can anybody help? I've never done this before. First of all, is there anyway to convert PAL to NTSC and still have it look and sound decent?? What I want to convert is a PAL avi file that has 25fps. Can I convert this to NTSC without it looking cheap? I want to burn it to VCD.
Is there an easy way to do this? Something like, "PAL to NTSC, for Dummies"?Or is there a really detailed guide that can help me out?
Any info would be much appreciated...
Thanks....

<--- Click "How to" / "Guides" to the left, then select "AVI to VCD" under the "Format Conversion" drop-down selection..

TMPG is the encoder for dummies
And it works all right, as far as PAL-NTSC is concerned. Actually, I have burned some PAL VCD and they played well on my player. Maybe it's player dependent. Anyhoo, it can't be more user-friendlier than TMPG.

I took a look at the guide....so basically I can just use the NTSC template in TMPG and it will convert it for me, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong about this. Also, What about the audio, will I need to stretch it?
(Poplar: I know my DVD player can handle PAL, but my TV can't, that's why I have to convert it.)
Thanks so much!!!!!

Also I recently saw a product called All Video Converter (avaliable from www.download.com, free trial) that says it does PAL to NTSC, could be worth a go?AKA Zaphod -
Ok, I'm just about ready to try this, but I have another question. When converting from 25fps PAL, is it better to convert to 29.97fps or 23.976fps?
From what I understand, I can just stretch the audio to whichever of the above fps and create a separete wav file, and then convert the fps on the video when I encode with TMPG, right? And I put my stretched wav file in the audio box on TMPG, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I really want to make this work.
Thanks so much. -
