Ladies and Gentlemen. Lately I have been having serious problems in installing and using hardware which have not passed the Microsoft hardware laboratory tests. The issue is worse with equipment using USB 2.0 ports. When buying a DVD writer should we make sure that the hardware has been approved by the MS laboratory. Could the forum members please react on this and tell us about their experiences and their opinions? Thanks a lot.

Everything on the planet should be Microsoft Approved, especially
toilet paper. -
If everybody keeps supporting that Monopoly, they will live to regret it in the long run.

I do like the MS approved toilet paper.
If there is a bug or a worm they tend to respond with the proper upload.
errr....meant download but then it's all ready too late.

Sorry, Most of the newer hardware should work fine. But if you are really concerned, then buy stuff that they certify. It will cost more, certification is not free.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Would MS approved hardware be any better than MS approved software? Every single version of Windows has been MS approved and they still don't have one that works right.

First off please say what burner you are having problem's with. I can say that sony DRU500 are junk. I had two of them. I have a Pioneer AO4 no problem's and it has been a year so far with this DVD burner. not one bad DVD yet

What kind of problems? I couldnt get anything to install in my pc until I found out about a bug that locked permissions so that no new hardware could install on xp or 2000. It was invalid data error as I recall during setup of any hardware.

your bios might have a NVRAm setting, this remembers what you have in the computer so if you change anything, it won't recognize, cause it stored what was already there. So you clear that setting then you can put in new stuff.

Yea then you could enter a 20 letter/number code when you want to burn a disk and let the system phone home for permision too right?
MS can't even get their own software to work, EVER! I been around since like Dos 2.0!
You ever hear of Blaster?? Yea M$ does a good job right??
Only reason I use MS software is because I have no choice! Otherwise I would not wipe my butt with MS.
Toliet paper, good idea but no sale here! If it worked as well as other MS products it would most likely fall apart at the wrong time and get your hands nasty!
