    Hello. i have an Emachin that came with a dvd writter. It recognizes perfectly cds, blank cds, and dvd-roms, but it doesnt recognize blank dvd. i have just tried with un disc, but im worried about it.

  4. If I had to guess I would say you have a DVD-R + model and are trying to use - (minus) media in it. You cannot interchange media types in burners unless the burner supports both plus and minus media.

    Well, my drive says:
    Cd Rewritable. DVD +Rewritable
    so? i must use dvd+r discs?

  6. Yes. And I was serious before. There's obviously no video on a blank DVD (or CD), so only your DVD burning software would recognize the disc.

  8. Depending what you actually meant and what we thought you might have meant,

    If you put a blank disk into your DVD burner, then click that drive with windows explorer or just about any other non-burning program you will get an error like, "Drive not ready", "Error reading Drive?", etc...
    Or maybe a "Disk is not formated" error.

    But normally the disk is not really even detected as being in the drive if it is blank.

    Also depending what software you have, sometimes a blank CD will be reconized or a CDrw will be, like if you have Sony ABCdrive installed for packet writing re-writeables.

    Go ahead and try to burn something onto the disc, and see if it works.
