  1. I just made a very interesting discovery with the Princo 4X DVD-R's. I noticed that when I try to burn them at 4X with RecordNow Max using a Sony DRU-500A, the software detects the blank as being 4X and starts to burn it at 4X. Then about a minute into the recording process, the time that's left doubles turning it into a 2X burn time. What I discovered is when I set the burn speed in RecordNow Max to 1X the opposite happens; it starts burning it at 1X and then a minute into the burn the time remaining cuts down dramatically turning it into a 4X burn. I tested the disc after the burn and it worked fine. I also burned a few more discs using the 1X setting to make sure I wasn't imagining things and they all worked. I find this very strange and I really don't have a theory on to why this would happen. At least now I found a way to burn the Princo media at 4X.

  2. That makes absolutely no sense. But then again, it's Princo.

  3. It's not the Princo's problem, my old Sony DRU500a did exactly the same thing on any 4x brand media.

  4. Sorry, I meant the 1X discs appearing to burn at 4X. Princo's can be like that. Evil on one burner, completely friendly to another...

That may be. My only experience with Princo media was when I fist got a burner and burned 10 of them at 1x and recently I bought 100 printable 4x DVD-R Princo's and so far the few that I have burned do so at 4x on a Sony DRU500ax.

  6. I buy Princo 4x DVD-R media. I burn at 4x with DVD Decrytper on my Pioneer DVR-A05. Never had a problem. Burns at 4x throughout (actually jumps up to 4.2x sometimes).
