Can anyone help me out with the settings i need to convert an xvid avi to divx and keep the same quality using virtualdub.I have had a go myself but the end result seems blocky.

xvid and divx are (or at least should be) compatible with eacher. (AFAIK, xvid is an open source implementation of divx). If you want an xvid encded movie to playback with the divx codec, simply change the FOURCC code in the file header, using the fourcc changer utility in the tools section.

There is no good reason to do that. There is also no way not to lose quality in the process.
