  1. I am trying to figure out what I'd need to cap some VHS stuff. I am curious as to whether or not anyone thinks I'd have problems using the onboard sound on my A7N8X Deluxe to cap this stuff. Will I likely have dropped frames/audio sync issues, or should I be OK?
    Thanks.

I use the onboard sound with my A7N8X Deluxe with no problems. Have been converting VHS to VCD and DVD and the sound has been right on.

I'm now using the updated drivers from Asus web site. I was using the drivers that came with the motherboard(no problems with them), but updated to the newest to take full advantage of the SATA controller.

  5. Thanks Mike,
just FYI I've read about problems with the sata drivers and corruption over on nForcershq, but not running sata didn't look to closely.
Think it was mainly related to converters and/or raid arrays. Anyhow, the mods there are beta testers for nVidia and they're excpecting new ide drivers soon. A site worth visiting if you can look past the all the nonsense. They have an HTPC section too.

  8. Just had a look at the Asus cn site, the others are busy, the 116 drivers for 2k are dated 2003/01/29, is this the one you're using? Seems a bit old.

Double checked on Asus site and 1/29/03 is the version of the 1.16 drivers I'm using. Also thanks on the info about the nForcershq site. I'll have to go check it out.

  11. My experience wasn't so good. I gave up using a ASUS A7V266EX MB (Via based chipset) because of problems with crackly sound using either the onboard CMedia sound or a SB Live 5.1! And I tried everything including the George's latency patch etc. Now that machine is relegated to the guest room and my main machine for video capture and PVR is a SIS based chipset from AsRock using a Athlon 2400+. Works fine with a Hauppauge WinTV PCI card

  12. So how are those A7N8X Dlx boards working for everything in general?
I was planning to buy one soon for a 333fsb XP2500 system.

As for onboard sound, I don't have that board, but I use onboard sound in all my systems with various boards with no trouble, including the system I capture with.
