    1. Opened a new project with the following settings/information:

    2. When I did a file> capture > movie capture (capturing video from my TV using an ATI card) I got the following information:

    Video Settings:
    Compressor: n/a
    Frame Size: 720 x 480
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Depth: Millions
    Quality: 100%

    3. The properties for the clip are:
    File Path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere 6.0\fishes.avi
    File Size: 18.03MB bytes
    Total Duration: 0;00;02;02
Average Data Rate: 8.71MB per second
    Image Size: 320 x 480
    Pixel Depth: 16 bits

    Total duration is 0;00;02;02
Size is 17.57MB bytes (average frame = 297.29KB bytes)
This movie appears to have DROPPED FRAMES
    There are 60 keyframes.
    There are 2 empty frames.
    Frame rate is 29.97 fps
    Frame size is 320 x 480
    Depth is 16 bits.
    Compressor: 'UYVY', Microsoft YUV

    Audio track 1:
    Size is 432.46KB bytes
    Rate is 44100 samples/sec, stereo
    Sample size is 16 bits

    4. The clip turns out to be 320 x 480, 29.97 fps
    5. When I scrub I see the clip but when I render I have the sound but no picture
    6. I took a look at the SETTINGS VIEWER and everything looked the same except for the clip which was set to 320 x 480 at square pixels (1.0)

Spoke with ATI but they wanted me to capture from ATI first then import the file into Premiere. This worked except at 720 x 480 it looked staggered.

Any suggestions????This has been really frustrating and all I get is vague suggestions and nothing seems to work................

I'm probably way off base here and I hardly know Adobe Premier but when I do a slide show I have noticed that often 4 or 5 pictures do not render properly when I export the timeline and I will have black video instead of the picture ..... but the audio is good. Both the scrub and preview look fine, but the final movie is flawed. On examination I see that the pictures that are rendered as black video are the ones that have a low quality scan ..... or minimal detail such as the ones I get in email. I'm thinking that in your case if the problem is similar ...... it might be in the original capture. It seems that you might prove this out by trying a VHS capture and importing to Premier? Anyway ......... just a thought.
