  1. Crisis time folks I am trying to convert AVI files to DVD using TMPGE and after about 10-15% the program hangs or crashes the computer. Have tried washing the AVI files with Vdub and this turns the files into 35 GIG files even trying to convert this size file in TMPGE still hangs up... Have tried different versions but all to no avail. Mainconcept will not touch the AVI originals it hangs after a short attempt at conversion...
    please please help...

  2. Have you checked for bad frames in Vdub ?

    Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard.

    Instead of creating a huge output file with Vdub
    try Frameserving.
    Open the AVI in Vdub
    File->Start Frameserver and make a xxx.vdr file
    Open the the xxx.vdr file with TMPGenc.
    This feeds uncompressed video into TMPGenc and
    eliminates codec problems.

  4. Thanks HUNTER and FOO...

    will try using the frameserving idea in Vdub but still no idea as to why TMPGEnc keeps crashing or hanging up on me.

  5. As suggested by FOO - try frameserving with Vdub, I've recently started using vdub for this and it's a god send.
