Computer fairs ?
http://www.computerfairs.co.uk/
Some of the online people attend these, but others BUY FROM the online retailers and THEN attend... with a markup on the prices, of course. -
I use a local computer supply shop while I am boycotting bigpockets. They happen to carry my brand. You'll probably find local shops only stock a couple/few types and some won't work for you.
I bet any small, independent shop'd be glad to stock yours, if they know your preference. -
Well.. I dont think you'll beat internet suppliers... Occasionally u get a local computer shop that aint bad but places like Dixons, etc still theink DVD-Rs should be sold for about a fiver each.
I'd recommend www.blankdiscshop.co.uk they have a huge legion of fans..good prices and great service plus if you have any probs with your DVD-Rs they will replace em !
Also you may wanna try www.bigpockets.co.uk..a similar set up..occasionally they get a slagging due to poor service although ive never had any probs with them.
The both sell DVD writers cheap too. -
Yeah, I should have clarified. I did not mean places like Dixons, but a specialty, computer shop. My local one is just a fraction over the online price, but I'd rather pay it than deal with some of them.
I placed a huge order with bigpockets once on some discs they said were selling fast, limited supply and better buy now (a lot of hype and I uncharacterisically fell for it), but it was my brand, and they miraculously got loads of them in and dropped the prices - drastically - the very next day.
I had placed large orders with them before, but they just ignored emails from me after that. They lost a good customer since then.
The local shop will pre-order for me when I'm running low. He's happy to have the business. Just takes a bit of communication. From past experience, you don't get that with the chain stores. -
This is the first batch I am buying. I am getting the burner at the end of the week.
I think the next lot I get will be from a Computer Fair. None of my local computer shops are any good
Cheers
