I have always wanted to learn how to design a game on the computer but wouldn't even know where to begin. Has anybody here ever done this or know where to learn?![]()
Just curious.

Depends on how sophisticated you want to make it. The last game I designed was on a TI 99-4 computer. It was a slot machine.
I've got friends right now that are developing games for Palm type devices.
Graphical games are tough, but, games with poor or missing graphics are usually boring.
There might be some kind of development environment out there somewhere to help you, but I doubt it will be very cheap.
Good luck, your braver than I am!Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
I made about 20 games in TI-Basic for the TI-85. Two or three for TI-85 ASM. One or two in Visual Basic. But nothing complicated.

Just throwing this out...
My husband used to work for a company that produced games. He was one of the programmers. They did it all on Macromedia Director. Costs a bundle, but if you were real serious, that might be the way to get into it. Maybe there's a barebones, trial version to go for. -

My daughter signed up for Chemistry this year. She doesn't think it will be too difficult.
Wait until after Christmas break when they shift over into Organic.Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
Chemistry sucked big time. But it was some of the best sleep I ever got.

Hey, tgpo, a few more for 4000!

4. Chemical reactions, yeah we use them, but I don't need to know the oxygen combines with .....etc etc etc
5. It was at the end of the day!!! I wanted to go home!!
Yeah I'm almost at the big 4000. Wow. Didn't I just hit 3000?? -

If you continue that trend you should reach 5000 in 12 days (by the end of August) and 6000 5 days later (September 4)..........i think by then you will be replying to your own posts
:P

Yeah. Everytime I got 1000, the time is cut in half. 4 months, 2 months, 1 month. I spend too much time here 8)

You sure do!
Do you get Evonne involved in it all, tell her whats going on and stuff, or just leave her in the corner till you're done with moderating for the day? -

Almodt forgot. We also talk about how when wer are married how we're gonna travel around and possibly visit some of the people from the board. And I told her all about how flaninacupboard is gonna pay for everything while we visit him.

I used to LOVE chemistry! i really sucked at all that calculation lark, but the experiments were REALLY fun!!! hehe, they made a mistake when they let me play with the highest conc of sulphuric acid you can get!!!!!! i used to have so much fun, but i was pretty good at the serious practical stuff to. i managed to impress all the girls by putting out a fire in the lab when the teacher ran away to try to find a fire hydrant!
i have 2 friends who are doing Computer Games Design at The University or Teeside (UK) they probably have a website if u want to do more research!1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!
2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website -
HUH?! when did i say that?!
Do you a deal, i'll put you guys up during your stay, if you smuggle in 100gallons of petrol for me -
I majored in Electronics but loved Chemistry also.
But back to original topic - I have just started at a project with an Electronic Games company - Electronic Arts (EA).
I will get some time to visit the studios and find out how they develop games. I am interested myself. I will post when I am initiated.*** My computer can beat me at chess, but is no match when it comes to kick-boxing. *** -
How are you involved?? Will you be coding or graphic work??
-
No. Not at all. I am into Oracle Applications (have a look at my profile). So I am implementing their ERP system (rather upgrading it).
But the EA studio is right one floor above. They are making "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" here in UK. Scheduled to be released next June.
The other day I walked in - a lot of people were drawing a lot of pictures for the Quiditch game. I didn't have the time to look into details. Besides there are some restricted zones where we are not allowed.
Yeah. But I would have loved to do some the jobs the others were doing. My work is so boring comparatively.
BTW, this place is one work place where they encourage you to play games once a while during the day. There is a library where one can rent these games for free. Great place to work.
