    HI guys,

Yesterday I tried for the first time to convert and burn an avifile to DvD. I installed Ulead first on my old PC, PIII 700mhz, 256 mb, with 29Gig free space.
All went well in selecting the file, as output I chose that Ulead creates VTS files so I can burn with Nero, due to other threads placed in this forum.

Anyway the file was going to be 4 gig, so no problem but after 8 % rendering, without any warning the programm just stopped and closed down.

No Idea what could be wrong so I installed it on my PIIII 2,4 ghz, 38 gig free space, same story, only this time I got a warning that the programm is unstable or so and will be closed, the same small warningscreen that Windows gives in XP when a programm will be shut down.

Any ideas what could be wromg, recently installed Windows XP Updates, Nimo Codec Pack and the new Nero 6 version, that's all for the changes.

Don't use Ulead Movie Studio. or DVD Movie Factory for conversion to Mpeg2, use Tmpgenc or CCE encoder to do that, it's faster and more reliable than the Ulead encoder. So convert with Tmpgenc or CCE and use Ulead or Tmpgenc DVD Author, or maybe DVD-Lab to author. Your problems will be gone.....

Ulead dvd movie factory 2 seems to stop with me at 98%.

I am doing a project with 48 video clips, captured with ATI hardware / software.

I use TMpgenc to encode mpeg2 files. The dvd file structure is there but when played it always freezes on my stand-a-lone player.

I have do-not recode mpeg files check, but it always seems to convert them.

I have used TMPGenc dvd author - no problem, only thing is the menus are not as good.

Yesterday i retried rendering an avimovie with Ulead and this time it worked after changing the quality from Perfect to Good quality, so happy as I was I gave it a try but there's no sound at all so ?

I know everyone is very keen on TMpgenc but as a newbie i tried that program several times and never worked for me plus I don't understand it fully so that's why I tried Ulead.

  5. I believe there is a newbies guide to conversion using TMPG in the How-To's. Believe me, I have had MF2 for almost a year and the ONLY thing I will ever do with it is burn nothing else. Someone else will tell you about these so-called extra options that you can access, however they do nothing for rendering quality at all. Do yourself a favor and use TMPG to convert and Ulead to burn. There's a box that says "do not convert compliant mpgs", tick that one and it shouldn't mess with the file after you convert w/TMPG. Plus make sure if you convert in VBR or CBR to change the setting on Ulead on the left bottom.

    John Cleese,

First of all maybe you can give us some specs according to the Avi_file
you want to convert, such as codec (Xvid, Divx etc..), framerate, and so on, with this info i will talk you through Tmpgenc, it isn't very hard, so give me the info and we talk further...

    groeten
    Marco
