Has school started back or something?? It seems like there are 1/2 the people online now than we had a week ago. Anyone else notice this?

It would be surprising to find out this site is all made up of school kids.
I start back next week
I think for some reason its because Will Hay isn't here. He seems to start most of the threads in off topic. -
I asked around and school started back here today. K-12 had to go today. I don't start back until the 21st.

In the UK we normally start back on a Monday, not in the middle of the week
Is it true American high schools get like a 3 month holiday or something? We get a month and a half. -

I think it is probably school related.

well, I've had in-laws in town, a couple of unexpected houseguests on top of that, a funeral, and new band practice.
so the only time I've been able to post in the last several days is while I'm at work!!- housepig

Yes, American schools K-12 have alittle less than 3 months of Summer vacation. School year ends ~ last week in June and they go back after Labor Day (first Monday in September).
Maybe loads of people are not on today 'cause of that virus that hit yesterday? :cO -

Hmmm. Maybe it's just New Jersey that has from June to September?
It was that way when I went and still is. I didn't realise other states differed so much. -
Here in SC & GA The kids go to school from Mid-August to Early-June and have summer inbetween

g_shocker,

I've been somewhat distracted lately by the need to create hate and discontentment at work. It's been cutting into my forum time.

i'll vote for vacations and/or that stupid XP virus.... most of "the world's" schools and colleges (read: those which i'm familiar with, apart from those odd ones where tgpo is
) operate on a september - june system... usually like ~3rd september to 20th june (or was it 20th july?) for schools, 30th sept to 6th june (this year) for college...
personally i'll be off two weeks 29th aug - 13th sep 8) 8) trip with friends to a private villa in france for lots of music, sun, beer, and maybe other stuff
and then off into the scary world of adult work
could be a variation in the earth's magnetic flux combined with whatevers making the moon orange. it's been driving otherwise normal people really strange. least that's how it seems from the wrong side of the S-Mart counter..-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more! -

In PA, USA, the school year is from the last week in August, maybe 3 days of instruction, then the Labor Day Holiday, during which most "working" people, as opposed to those who refuse Union representation, celebrate their last holiday of the year, vacation-wise, 3-4 days, admittedly, but working people DO enjoy that. I'm one of them, and will go to the lake with my trailer/caravan that weekend.
The kids, then, have 180 days of instruction, a heavy snow day barred, as it will extend the schooll year day for day. I do believe that the year must end June 20, regardless of the number of snow days. Ordinarily, it ends the last week in May, first week of June.
Jeez, you kids are so soft. When I went to grade school, I walked to school, in snow up over my ass, AND uphill, both ways. -
I school just started this week in my town, and next week or two for the rest of Dallas, of course I could be tottaly wrong but I think I heard that somewhere.
