  1. On sale this week (8/10/03 - 8/16/03) at Walgreens:

    15 Pack TDK brand 4x DVD+R for $25 ($1.67 each).

Sorry for the short notice, but I only found out about the sale today. I checked it out and the discs are 4x rated; at $1.67 each, it is almost as good as the price Target had a few weeks ago. Hurry, sale ends this Saturday.

Note: although the ad is good only for San Francisco Walgreens location, it doesn't hurt to check your local Walgreens to see if they also have this on sale. Click here to find your local Walgreens store ad.

  2. Last month BestBuy had a sale on the same TDK media for a 100 pack at $129 or $1.29 each. Maybe they will have another sale soon.

  3. Yep, I have been pretty lucky with the local sales. I have never bought any media over the internet. Just watch those Suday flyers for: Best Buy, Office Depot, Office Max and Circuit City sales. It seems to me that at least one of these chains has a a sale every Sunday. Decent 4x media seems to be gravitating right now to the $1.20-1.40 range in bulk. Looking forward to them dropping below a buck!

  4. The cheapest I have seen to date for 4x DVD-R is $0.80 each here in packs of 100.

That stuff from yesbuy sounds too good to be true. I wouldn't be surprised if it only burns at 4X on a couple of drives and/or firmware revisions, and even then maybe only for some discs.

this isn't legit 4x media, and you keep posting that as if you've purchased them. Purchase them and come back and let us all know how much of a deal you got. Also let us know if you were able to burn past 2x. Unfortunately, you can't always believe what you read...but buy the disks bob...I mean, hey...you love those COMPUSA/LD disks for a buck a piece when you can get them .30 cheaper online...so i'm sure you'll be satisfied with 4x disks which only burn @2x and which have a failure rate of 1/5. I also remember you talking alot of trash about the Sony burners which I questioned you on....but still see you make mention that your SONY burner loves this media and that media.

    Very interesting.

I'm on my second Sony burner, the first one died after three months so I'm never going to be a big fan of the Sony burner. Yes my new Sony drive likes the CompUSA 1x media which burns at 2x on that drive (and the last time I bought the media I paid $45 for 50 discs). As for the cheap $0.80 4x media I was simply making a comment that it was the cheapest I had seen and never said I have used it. I thought this was a forum where we share information, if not then I won't offer my comments or thoughts in the future.

  8. @ bob w ...no ...my point is that you were bashing that Sony burner and providing inaccurate information because you got a defective burner....that was wrong. If memory serves, you found the problem had something to do with a loose bolt internally....that may not and probably wasn't Sony's fault.

During shipping it may of been dropped. Either way....no...you are right...the forum is for sharing info..but you've posted about those cheap 4x disks countless times in threads that have nothing to do with them....I don't understand that. At the very least, you're changing the subject of the thread and advertising a product which is inferior. I would think you read threads too...so I'm pretty sure you've read the countless people who have used this type of media and read their results.

I think if the topic was "where can I buy the cheapest media"...then yea...I hear what you're saying. But the thread was to make posters aware of a sale Walgreens in having on TDK DVD media. And if the media you were advertising was at least worthy of the .80 cents and title of "4x" media which would help people..then yea...I understand what you are saying. But you have never used the media and you're advertising it as though it's the most amazing media in the world.

And the odd thing is you've done this in several other threads. I just find that very odd. Anyway, don't let me deter you from your posts...just try to understand what i'm saying.

  9. I live in Phoenix and Walgreens here in Phoenix and I would asume the entire state has those same TDK 4x DVD+R's for $24.99 for 15, I only have a 2.4x burner but may give them a try. If they will burn to 2.4x thats all i care for.
