    Learn to Spell.

You can use CCE, it's approximately twice as fast in similiar modes (2-pass VBR). Unless your running dual P4's at 3 Ghz, you can expect your encodes to take (for a 2 hour movie) 1.5-3 hours for 1-pass and 3-8 hours for 2-pass using TMPG on a 2 Ghz machine. CCE is approximately 1/2 as long, but there are quality questions (CCE users typicaly do 3 or 4 passes, yielding approximately same time to encode)

    Neither program is free.

Of the free programs, well, you get what you pay for, so learn to set it up and go to bed. It will be done in the morning jsut like everyone else does it :P

Speed should never concern you when it comes to encoding. Because there are times that it may take 2-5 hours but also you might have to wait 15+hours for some movie. So learn to use TMPGEnc really good and you'll be more than happy with the encoding. You shoud try and do most of your encoding during the night. I do my encoding on PII machine and I never complain about the time.
