Does anyone know of a good .ifo editting guide? Not a simple authoring guide, I can do that, but a detailed guide to the various parts and aspects of an .ifo file. One of the reasons I ask is that I have a DVD that starts playing showing subtitles (no, it's not cuz of my player) and I'm sure there is a way to disable this in the .ifo file but I don't know how. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

IFOEdit can do this. Very powerful program. I'm not aware of any one 'complete' guide that covers everything it can do. But there are several guides and a very good discussion forum for it at http://www.doom9.org
Sounds like you have an issue with forced subtitles:

A Complete Guide to IfoEdit would be a dream come true. Although I understand the author of the program is working on other projects, so I doubt unless someone sat down and took the time to write one that it will ever happen
Thank goodness for this forum, huh?"Can You Dig It!" -
doom9.org has some very good 'mini' detailed guides on IFOedit (in the ifoedit/vobedit forum).. i know have this particular 'cheatsheet' saved as a favorite:
