  1. I'm sure this has already been discussed before but I just couldn't find the propler topics from the search.

I have already encoded a movie with CCE and I want to add the subtitles to this movie. But I do not want to re-encoded the movie just to add the subtitles because of the possibility of quality loss with another software. Is it possible to add the subtitles to my mpeg2 file without losing any quality?

  2. Yes, the question is what's your final format: SVCD, CVD or DVD? Also does your standalone support selectable subs (on non-DVD discs). You might want to d/load the two demos to check.

My old DVD player (Apex AD600A) supported CVD subtitles but not SVCD subtitles (you can mux either format thou).

For SVCD or CVD you can mux your subs with WinSubMux. For DVD need an authoring program that accepts subtitles. The only ones I know of are: DVD Maestro, Scenarist, Reel DVD and IfoEdit. Most people use IFOEdit as it's freeware.

IFOEdit only accepts subtitles in the *.sup format. You can find guides for this at http://www.doom9.org

  3. I want to make a svcd and my dvd player doesn't support switchable subtitles. I want to make it permanent on the movie file. How do I do this?

Yes yes! I have the exact same problem! If anyone can help us, please do! I can't make switchable subs either and I already have the MPEG.
