  1. Why, at a resolution of 649x480 giving a file size of 73+ Gb for a 94 minute vhs capture. Is there any way to set vdub to 352x480 resolution for vhs capture? Also, why when I encode a vdub avi file with TMpeg Plus with a video only setting does the resulting file run in fast forward, the guide I am using says to use another software such as BeeSweet for the audio which is why I am doing the video only encode. Plus the avi file that I used for the encode now has out of sync video/audio that was in sync before the encode with TMpeg Plus. Lots of probs any thoughts?

you are capturing uncompressed .. try capturing to a compressed format for a smaller file size instead of reducing the resolution (which is a weird size anyway) -

you can encode the audio just fine with TMPGEnc - newer versions set on high quality as well if you want - use a external plug in ..

your fast speed is prob. due to the fact you are encoding to the wrong frame rate

  3. I thought I had the huffy compression codec installed with vdub, apparently not, I need to try and find a source other than doom9.org I guess. When I run the huffy install all it does is flash a DOS screen up very quickly and then it is gone. I will try encoding with TMpeg audio & video plus check the frame rate again, thanks.

I capture with Virtualdub using the PicVideo MJPEG codec at quality 19 of 20 and if I remember correctly my captures come out at around 10gb per 30 mins.

  5. You probably have installed the HuffyUV codec, but when you set up VirtualDub to capture you video, have you to set the compression codec it is to use.
