  1. I have a Athlon 1.4 with 768 meg DDR and a Plextor 16X CD-RW I have DMA enabled and the new Mpeg 2 plug in for nero. I am trying to burn a mpeg2 movie it has been working (Encoding) for about 1 hr 20 min and it is only about 1/4 of the way done.... can anyone help????

    Maybe there is nothing´'to help', you just have to be patient. In the COMPARISON section of this site some results of speed were published: the resulting time for 1 minute of avi to mpeg2 was 12 minutes.
    I have done some encoding and went from mpeg1 to mpeg2 for SVCD and 30 minutes took me 130 minutes to encode (= 4.3 times), but not not 6 hours.
    If your 'to be encoded' movie is of 90 minutes, you are well off. Regards Wolf

    To make you feel better, let me you that it takes 13hours for me to encode a 90min video to MPEG2 for SVCD creation.

    This seems quite normal to me. I wouldn't say I like it like that, but the resulting quality is so good I don't really mind leaving my computer computing all night.
    (Any guy around here willing to send me a P4 1.4GHz for free is welcome
