    Hi all.
I downloaded two videos in Xvid and I wanna put them all in only one cd, making another file in 700MB (less birate, of course). I try to join the both videos in Virtualdub and when I convert them to Divx, I find no sound on the final video. I have the AC3 files installed (I even watch the videos in Radlight), but Virtuadub doesn't accept it.
    What do I do?
PS1: I also can't extract a .wav file in Virtualdub from those videos.
PS2: I have Lame Mp3 installed and I choose the kind of sound in Virtualdub's configs.

Well, I tried both softwares and I had no progress with any.
The first one even accepts the audio of the files, but it doesn't have options of audio convertion (I want 128kbps CBR) - or I just don't know how to do it...
The second only manage audio files.
    What do I do?

In fact, my Virtualdub is not able to handle these Xvid files. When I open and try even to play them inside Virtualdub, the following message appears: "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format.". But Media Player and Radlight find no problem running.
    Must be a simple problem...
PS: I have the last beta of Nimo Codec Pack installed with those codecs included.

  5. depeche101_Brazil,

It sounds like you just need the AC3 codec...try just installing that, over at the left under 'Tools'.

If that doesnt work, my suggestion would be to uninstall the nimo pack (as alot of people have problems with it) and just install the DivX/XVid/AC3/MP3 codecs by themselves....

The message from Virtualdub you are getting is a codec issue...it is not finding the right ac3 codec. The Tools section on the left has all the codecs you will need...and all the stable codecs most importantly. Then both programs should work properly.

    Hi, Don.
I had decided to do that even before you told me that. But it doesn't work at all. Thank you anyway for your support. I'll try some other software - if there's some...

I saw where you were having problems getting VirtualdubMOD to save the .wav file and thought I would try to help. Instead of being a choice on the Save menu like it is in "regular" vDub, in vDubMod you need to look in the streams menu, then view all streams. From there you can select the stream that contains the audio you want (often the only one there), and the Save .wav option is a button on the same screen.
The shortest sentence is said to be "I am". The longest is "I do".

  8. another alternative if you're having trouble with ac3 audio in an avi, is to open the avi in GoldWave, and then save as a wav - goldwave converts it to a nice big PCM wav for you to use as your audio source.

a few others have posted that they find this the most foolproof way.

    cheers,

  9. VDubMod -> Streams -> Stream List -> Demux... -> Save it -> BeSweet -> whatever target audio -> ENJOY!
My AVI -> Any Format Guide is available here.
My Frame Resize Calculator (enhanced for Virtualdub) is available here
