i don't want to waste any cd's experimenting... do i have to increase to resolution of my videos to full screen before i put them on a VCD? or does it not matter (ie, will be shown full screen anyway)?

VCD resolution is 352x240 NTSC or 352x288 PAL. TV will show it as full screen. SVCD resolutio is 480x480 NTSC and 480x576 PAL. Everything else is X(S)VCD. As long the horizontal pixel number is multiple of 16, it should be displayed as full screen as well. I did not experiment with the vertical pixel number. Recall that you have to set the proper aspect ratio.
