I was able to update to version 1.2c with no problems, but when I run the firmware update for any of the 2.x versions, they say "No Updatable Drive Exists".
I'm running XP Pro on an Asus P4C800 with a P4c 2.8 Ghz (800 mhz FSB).
I tried disabling DMA. Same result.
I've also tried the 500A and 500AX updates with the same results.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

I found my own answer, but thought I'd post it here for anyone who has the same question in the future.
To flash the DW-U12A in a non-VAIO machine, you will first need to burn it with firmware to make it into a 500A. The link to the 500A 1.0g update is below. Once that's done, use any of the 500A firmware updates.
