part that I can't seem to understand. When I run DMC, the first thing you have to do, is open a file. Well, the only files it will allow you to open are music files. Please tell me how to open the video and then save it as a .wav file.

Just use virtual dub (tools section.) It will accept any video file as long as you have the codec it was encoded in, assuming the file isnt damaged. Click file/save wav. It works everytime and doesnt take long at all.

As far as your question, by the name of the program it doesnt sound like it would be able to process a video file. Try dragging and dropping the file, try setting it to show all files where you select the files.

Trey,When you open dbpoweramp at least on the version I have you are right to assume that it only accepts music files and playlists.However if you click on the down arrow to see supported types then you should see asf and wmv.I have converted the sound from many asfs myself.Just open the file and then you can convert to wave or whatever.It does not matter whether the asf is video & audio or an audio only file,it will still open.Just to let you know that some recent asf & wmv files,mainly film trailers have audio protection and can't be copied but poweramp will inform you of this.Hope this helped you out.CHEERS,JIMBO.

Trey,I forgot to mention that you first have to get the right codecs.Go to your start menu then programs then db power amp then choose help and finally select music converter help which will take you to a web page.The first codec option on the screen is wma codec which is the one you want.Just download and run the exe file to install and then you will have the option to open asf & wmv.CHEERS,JIMBO.

No I do not believe you can load a quicktime file into virtual dub but you can load a quicktime file into TMPGenc and encode the video or audio to something else.

For .mov files created with newer versions of quicktime you need a plugin in order to get TMPGenc to accept them. I dont know the address of the site that hosts that anymore but it shouldnt be hard to find at all. Check in the links section on TMPGenc's homepage and check in the conversion guides.

Adam, every time I used v-dub to do this, it messes up with asf files (I have the asf plugin).

Unfortunately there nearly always seem to be a lot of errors in downloaded asf files. Maybe as they are really for streaming video, therefore are subect to more errors as there is a different criteria for streaming media, I'm not sure. I think that there are utilities to fix them but I dont know any specific ones so you'll have to search for one.
