  1. Hi,

I have problems playing video files when i connect the videocard to my TV.

I get the desktop screen on the TV. Everything seems to work, but when i open a videofile (any format, DivX, MPG, SVCD, DVDs etc) it plays as usual on my monitor, but on the TV i get just black emptiness where the video should be.
I have tried many different players (PowerDVD, Mediaplayer, WinFastDVD player etc), it doesn't help.

What could be wrong? The videocard is Leadtek WinFast (GeForce 4 Ti 4800 SE).

  2. My Laptop does some freaky stuff like that. Try having the diplay ONLY on the TV and not also on your screen.

For example on my laptop, I have to disable the TFT and the Monitor output and everything works fine then.

  3. I already tried that, and unfortunately it didn't solve the problem for me.

The unlogic part of this problem is that everything else works when connecting it to the TV: pictures slideshows, mouse movements, works fine. It's ONLY videofiles that won't work.

I have also changed the videosettings in Windows, lowered the videocard resolution and colors to the absolute lowest in all ways, still it didn't solve the problem..

  4. I would use a program called TVTool.

I use it to play all kinds of video files on my TV. It works great but you will have to pay for it. I believe they have a demo that you can download that will do the TV-out thing for 15 minutes before asking you to purchase the product.

  5. Hi,

You might need to go into your video card settings and select Overlay for your tv out. With my G4MX440 i have, the overlay is set to be disabled on default. Once in a while it resets to being disabled at which point I reset it to the secondary device.

    Hope that helps!

Feeras is probably right. My video out has to be turned on in the Display Adapter settings before I can see it on TV. Also, on mine, everything needs to be hooked up ... that is, the TV connected on ON when I boot up with the right display settings. Mine is a Nvidia card with TwinView it's called. Often the TV screen has to be adjusted also afterwards (in the display settings again) to avoid cutting off the edges ..............
