AVIs to SVCDs
What format is the sound in ?
Does the avi play with sound on your PC ? If not then you're probally missing a codec. Use GSPOT
https://www.videohelp.com/tools#Codecs
to determine the type of file it is and what codecs you have installed. -
Gspot says that both codecs are installed on my computer the video is divx 3 low motion and the audio is mp3

Well as far as I'm aware TMPGenc should work with mp3. When you adjust the source range to ensure correct file size does the green audio indicator show peaks or is it a flat straight line ? If this doesn't show audio then you should adjust the priority of the "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader" in the environment settings up by 1 untill it recognises your audio stream.
If this doesn't work extract the audio to wav using Vdub. You'll find guides for this on the left.
Let me know how you get on. -
audio is probably variable mp3 which tmpg doent like try converting to wav with vdub like VCDHunter said that shoukd work

Sord_Fish I think you're spot on with MP3 - my TMPGenc just crashes when I use MP3 as the audio source. This can't be a common compression used for video as I've not needed to use vdub to extract to wav for quite sometime now.
