Sorry for the late reply, I just got Internet connection in Israel, and i'm limited to a few hours, and I can only connect on 3 days of the week, glad to hear all works well now homerpez! and ya_jai, the reason Nero detects my SeVCD as Standard, is because i'm making it at VCD settings, I don't think it will work well if you set it to 1950, but if your DVD can play non-standard, then it most propably will, but then, you would be creating a XVCD in VBR, and not an SeVCD

The reason I changed some of your setting because at high motion screen (with your template) there are a lot of blockinesses, and with movie only 148 minutes I do have plenty of space left in my 2 CDs. So I just want to improve the quality of movie as much as space availble.
You said I created XVCD but for your template sake let me call it "SeXVCD" then -
Hmmm.. that's an interesting combination you know
since my Templates were made in the objective of using VCD settings but diffrent compression methods (mostly using VBR instead of CBR), and X(S)VCD is made (usually with CBR) with higher bitrate, so making a SeXVCD is a very interesting concept

FYI everyone... I've been consistenly making 90+ minute movies using a variation of Sefy's template (actually using 2-Pass VBR instead of CQ VBR)... only using ONE CD. Maybe I'm not as picky...
For DVD-Rips, especially, it's excellent. I have some movies where you can only tell it's a VCD during HIGH HIGH motion scenes (where the whole screen is moving, tilting, and things are moving inside that frame as well). My TV captures are not quite as nice, but I think that's due to just a slightly noisier picture source than DVD.

I have tested this VCD in my apex, there is no problem at all. It played just fine. But at dark scenes still can notice a lot of blockiness. I ripped CASTAWAY from DVD which a lot of dark scenes in the first part. I think next time I will try to increase CQ_VBR to 100 instead of bitrate. Do you think that helps Sefy? -
It Might help, it depends on what your DVD handels better, a VBR or a Higher Bitrate or a mix of both, from what you said it doesn't handle Higher Bitrate all that well, so you can try increasing the CQ_VBR to 100 and see how that goes, as always, id' recommand you use a CDRW to test!

I ripped short clips of movie with various of setting such as CQ_VBR 100, CQ_VBR 100 with 1350 bitrate, CBR 1650, and CBR 1350 to test on my player to see what is the best setting in quality and file size.
I have a few more questions, though. What VBV buffer should be set for both CQ_VBR and CBR? Should it be 0(auto) or 40 (same as default)?
-
I always put it on 0(auto) so that TMPGEnc will give it what it needs, and not pre-set it to 40 or more, you might be putting more then you need or less then you need.
