  3. well...if you don't mind encoding again...

in tmpgenc's filters..there's a filter called "source range". in it, there's a function called audio skew that allows you to specify tmpgenc to start the audio earlier or later...

this only works if the audio is outta sync by the same amount throughout the movie...

if the audio gets gradually out of sync, it could be a framerate problem.

  4. Yeah, what poopy said. You might be able to use BBMpeg too. That's what I use for constant sync problems. I've pretty much written off ones that are progressively out of sync....

written off??? you mean given up??

most likely, there's a framerate issue...

i.e. could be you made an NTSC FILM (S)VCD, but forgot to add the 3:2 pulldown flag to your video stream. if your dvd player doesn't automatically do 3:2 pulldown, it'll play the video as 23.976 fps, while the audio is designed for 29.97 fps playback. hence, if you added the 3:2 pulldown flag, your video will be played back as 29.97 fps to match the audio.

It was the AVI, before I ever got it to (s)vcd. It was a virtualdub capture (after a reload ) and I didn't check the "adjust video clock dynamically to match audio clock" or "lock video stream to audio." I couldn't remember which one I used, so I checked neither. Obviously, that didn't work....
