  1. I finally decided to convert some of my old TV shows on VHS to DVD, but I have one major problem, no matter how small the files are, when I put them on Sonic DVD and their is over an hour of Video it can't burn. I have some 4.7 GB DVD+R and a 8 500MB files on my computer (20 mins each). Now every time I add one of these files it says they have taken up 1.34 GB!!! I can't even fit for episodes onto one DVD!!! Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks

  2. It is probrably uncompressing your audio to PCM. This type of audio takes approx 10MB/min and thus drastically reduces the amount of video you can have on a disc. Use authouing software that supports mpeg audio.

which version you using? MyDVD? DVDit SE? LE? PE? etc.. i had a similair problem. use this formula. add all your video files you want to compile together, that will give a total linear video running time. say it comes to 90 minutes. multiple 90 times 10 (the 10MB/min wav formula) that comes to about 900 megs add that to your video running time. that total should be no bigger than 4gigs. a big problem with DVDit it the Project settings. go to Build, Project settings, Set Output Size, change that to Other, type in 8000, it should come back as 7.81gigs. that will allow DVDit to use WAV audio in the final output. when ever i had a 4 gig import, it would report it as 5.31 gig, but let me still build it with a output VIDEO_TS folder of 4.36 gig. also a problem might be the bitrate your video is encode at. i use 4megs/sec. 720x480 128kps AC3 audio and can easily get 2 hours 20 minutes. if your bitrate is around 7 to 8 megs per second that would easily restrict you to about 60 minutes with LPCM/ Wav audio
