  1. I have this xvid file which is goes alll green when i play it in windows media player. all the codecs are installed the latest xvid codec too then wat is the problem.

    open the file in gspot (available in tools section) to see what codecs you need and whether you already have them. if you installed a codec "pack" you may want to uninstall it and install only the codecs you need for each occasion. this will cut down on conflicts.

  3. I think all you need is the correct version of XviD. FFDShow is a good solution most of the time.

  4. I thought this was supposed to happen when the ppl r missing their AC3 codec?

    Nope. AC3 is an audio codec and therefore, if it was missing, the file would play with no sound.

    I know that, dummy. I just heard in other posts that for some reason ( I think a conflict), this happened.

    It can be your video driver as well. Sounds stupid, but I upgraded video cards and everything went green until I upgraded my drivers...and...gulp....DirectX as well.

    WMP is very fickle about how it displays video (overlay versus DirectX). Part of this is realted to hardware acceleration versus software for the implemntation of the DirectX drivers.
