I play a DVD with RealOne, WMP - it displays ok, but there is no sound. (No errormessage, just silence...)
(Playing audio CDs works fine, so there is no 'physical' problem with the sound.)
When I use the original program for this, WinDVD, it starts ok, with picture _and_ sound, but almost at once displays an error message, in front of the video window, asking if it's ok to send an error report to Microsoft. The moment I point at WinDVD's window, it goes white, and the program terminates.

It is HP computer, XP Home ed., and WinDVD was preinstalled, and worked fine until lately. I haven't used it for half a year, and in that time probably have installed something that ruined DVD playing.

The error report indicates an error with ac3audio.ax. I have looked around, but I don't know how to replace this module, and where I can get another one.

I did unregister the module, and renamed it. RealOne and WMP behaved the same as before, picture but no sound. WinDVD didn't even start displaying the DVD now.
After re-registering, it was back as in the beginning of the message, exactly.

Is there anyone who can give me a hint of how to analyse or solve this? I want to get my sound back, or get WinDVD working again (HP can't help me with reinstallation of WinDVD, unfortunately...). I don't really want to format my harddisk and re-install xp again...
