  1. Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can make DVD-r 's and which program I should use ?
The things I want the program to do is : support subtitles, create menus and that's all. I tried many programs like Scenarist, IFOEdit but the first one is very hard to understand and the second one doesn't support subtitles.
Please help me, I've been looking for that application for a week, I'm getting pretty desperate...

the dealer where you got scenarist will be sure to help you learn it .. after for 25grand you should get something ..

as for supporting subtitles and such .. your options are limited ..

spruce maestro (no longer made) , apple DVD pro 2 (you need a mac of course), adobe encore and scenarist ....

the mac program is the cheapest option .. $499 ,
Adobe Encore is $599 and also suports subtitles ..

both of the above are not shipping yet though ..

  4. You are not really desperate and you have done no homework on how to make dvd-r's. Further, you have not made use of this site in any way except to place a very nondescriptive subject line, and ask a question that has been asked (and answered) numerious times on DVDRhelp.

what p2p applications have you used to find the cracked software ? (FYI. This IS a loaded question in case you don't pick up on it). This site does not support piracy.

Now that I got that off my chest (and trust me, it went through several edits to this much nicer response), you can use dvdshrink (which is free) to do what you want as far as subtitles and then use Movie factory 2, although you will actually have to buy that.

well i have been using TMPGEnc, Intervideo DVDE copy, and TMPGEnc DVD Author, all of em are trial for 30 days. if you have MPEG files here is what you do:
    1) Run TMPGEnc and exit the wizard
    2) Click FILE than MPEG Tools...
    3) Next go to the Last Tab, Merge and Editing i think its called
    4) Click ADD and add an MPEG
    5) Click on the MPEG once then Click EDIT
    6) Select a Start and Stop point of the Movie (i would suggest that u include the whole movie because if you dont, sometime it causes problems)
    7) Hit OK
(NOTE: if you want to create a continuous movie from multiple MPEGs, do steps 1-6 for the rest of the MPEGs. other wise when you are done encoding your MPEG, clear the window and start over)
    8) Then hit Browse and Choose a folder where you want your MPEG to be located and give it a name
    9) Hit RUN

    this process is called encoding

if you dont have MPEG files, you should also download the 30 day trial of VCD Gear, then do this:
    1) Run it and at the top of the window, choose your beginning file type to MPEG for example: dat --> mpeg
    2) at the bottom of the window hit LOAD
    3) choose your file then choose where you want to save it
    4) Hit Start
    5) Repeat this for all your files then follow the first set of steps above

After you have finished the neccessary steps, Run TMPGEnc DVD Author and do the following:
    1) Start a new project and ADD FILES
    2) Add them in the order you want to view them
    3) then u can create a menu at the next tab at the top of the window
    4) go to the last tab, output and hit output it should create a file to
    My Documents/TMPGEncDVD/Volume 1

Then run Intervideo DVD copy and:
    1) Insert a Blank DVD
    2) browse for the folder, My Documents/TMPGEncDVD/Volume 1
    3) Hit The Burn button

I know my instructions werent the greatest so go here, you can download the stuff here too: http://ness888.users.btopenworld.com/fromvcd2dvd.htm

  9. I'll try to stay civil but you made me very angry with ur post. I have read every thread inhere that handles authoring of DVD. NONE of them explain what I want.
And do you think I am going to spend 3900 US dollars for a program I will only use twice in a year ?
And piracy can't be stopped these days, if ppl would make their products cheaper, ppl would start buying them again !!!

i gave you several cheaper options (where did 3900$ come in this ? ) .. 500-600$ is a reasonable price for a program ... in fact very reasonable .. I thought I WAS helping you ..

if you only plan on doing this twice a year .. send your stuff to someone with the right tools and let them do it for you then ..

  12. No offense, but if you'veread through the forums and the article and guides and you say that you can't find what you are looking for then:

    1) You must not be able to read english because they are there
    2) You might just be to lazy to look these things up yourself

No one here minds helping others with problems they are having or trying to understand concepts, but when a person posts what you have it shows that you either didn't look, or have a problem describing what you really want. It's very frustrating trying to do this, but you will be all the better if you do research on your own and learn it that way. As the old saying goes, "Give the man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him how to fish and he eats for a lifetime."

authoring and encoding are two different things ..

if you need to - convert your ac3 file to wav audio with goldwave or besweet ... install the ac3 codec here if using goldwave.

then load the wav file into tmpgenc ..
