I have thousands of hours of 16mm tapes and want to convert them to digital, then DVD's. I don't have any more PCI slots, so I'll have to go external. I've heard good things about the Pinnacle Studio MovieBox USB and want to purchase. However, I'm concerned about being able to take the video that I've captured and "integrate" it with other digital video/stills already on my hard drive. I hear that this device will only operate with it's own software...which I may not want to use when it finally comes time for me to edit/author my DVD. Needless to say, I'm a newbie and so I may be asking a very dumb question. Any comments sure will be appreciated.

I believe that USB capturing only allows like 15 or 20 frames per second max. Most video is at 29 frames per second. I have never heard anything good about USB capture cards. I believe there are card/boards that will allow you to use an extra PCI slot if you are out of them.
