    Folks,

I lent one of my backups to a friend (and no, I didn't watch the original during the time it was on loan, hehe).

It was "The Mummy Returns". Now, I had used CloneDVD to put just the movie onto a single disc. Anyway, the media is Fuji DVD+R with a Blue/Violet back. Is this media garbage? I've been using them for a while, haven't noticed a problem in MY dvd player (Pioneer), but he reported that the last few minutes of the movie was kinda skippy.

That says to me that the 4300MB+ range is bad, which is indicative of bad media. I've only got a few of these left, and I can always burn them slower (drop to 2x from 2.4x in Recordnow) or something... or it's possible that CloneDVD was a wee bit too aggressive in picking a burn speed for this media.

Either way, I'll probably order Ritek 4x next time (unless there's a BETTER 4x media for under $1.50 per in the USA)... but I still have a few of these to use. Should I be worried and/or sticking to under 4300MB?

  2. do a search for princo and the outer edge problem comes up

i use cheapo, 1x princo and that has come up...but rarely and my pioneer dvd333 plays the outer edge fine most of the time.

seems to me last 80 MB...anything above 4400 MB can be a problem on crappier media

I've never had a problem with the FUJI DVD-R discs that I've bought at BEST BUY. They come in 10 packs in full size CD jewel cases (not those slim jewel cases). They burn 2x on my Pioneer 104/A04 and I always use 4350MB as my setting in DVD2ONE and when doing projects from stratch my final MPEG-2 file size is usually around 4000MB and after authoring and adding menus and whatnot is even higher so ... no problem here but of course I am talking abou the -R discs. I don't use +R
