Ok, so I couldnt get a file to burn to a CD (VCD) in Nero so I used my TMPEG to make it a copy-able file format but the last 2 files that I have encoded are like better than 3 gigs in size??? I used to use this with no problems, anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong here???
Thanx so much I have to admit I owe this place a great deal as I learned almost all I know about using all the copying stuff I know now from here and I P-R-O-M-I-S-E a donation is coming!

If your films are over three hours long and you use the standard vcd tem-plate in TMPG then yes your files will be greater than 3 gigs. Rule of thumb is 1 minute of film is about 10MBs in size using standard vcd bitrates. Check out the length of the films and the bitrate you are using.

You need to compress that AVI video / audio with Virtualdub and install the proper codecs and also split the files into CD 1 or CD 2 even CD3 if needs too..
Then use TMPGEnc free or Plus to convert to MPEG 1 or VCD, might want to try Aare AVI to VCD, SVCD, DVD very good product... -

You don't need to compress anything if you're converting an avi to mpeg. Compressing only causes a loss in quality. You do need the proper codecs, Gspot can diagnose codec problems. You don't need to split if you're using TMPGEnc. The Source Range function in TMPGEnc allows you to select which portion of the video to encode and to create seperate mpegs of the proper size.
@ pete_flex, Did you check your file for bad frames? Here's a guide"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
Lol,
I hate when I do moronic stuff I really do and I THANL YOU GUYS 4 the swift replys and I have virtual dub and I think I am gonna start using it just because its an unexplored option but normally I dont have a prob with Nero, I guess with all the flix being DVD rips today ( a lot of them anyway) it just wont burn like a normal AVI file would. Normally as I said I will take a reg AVI and just select "VCD" and bang a flick in like 2minutes but somehow these rips must show like a normal AVI file but Nero just keeps telling me unsupported file format and thats why I tried the dopey TEMPEG thing. BUT as Laddydaddy suggested when I thought about it I checked out my settings and sure enough I was set for DVD instead of reg NTSC........ and all my normal settings so now I just went to re-encode this because remember its still a DVD file I guess even tho it says AVI and now at least its small enough to burn! So thanx good people and I still am throwin a few bones to this forum, I had been out of work like everyone else but now that Im workin as soon as I square these bills Im sendin this site a fat donation, they sincerely deserve it!
