  1. Hey guys, I'm trying to convert my AVI to mpeg (for SVCD). The format is ready to be converted, however I just need to know how to split it. I know that the avi will fit into 3 SVCDs, I just can't remember how to split it. I also know that I need to use TMPEGEnc to convert to SVCD format, but I can't find out how to split my file into 3 equal parts for the cds. Am I making any sense?

    Thanks for any help guys!

Yes, Rob, you are making sense.
TMPGEnc can split the file for you.
What I used to do was play the SVCD in PowerDVD (you can use Windows Media Player instead). Find where you wanted to split the video.

    1. Load the file into TMPGEnc
    2. Load your favourite SVCD Template
    3. Click "Settings" - "Advanced" - "Source Range"
    4. Mark the begining and ending of the 1st SVCD
    5. Click "OK"
    6. Select "File" - "Batch Encode" (or alt-ctrl-m)
    7. Save the SVCD as Movie Title 1 of 3 "OK"

    8. Repeat steps 1-7 for parts 2 and 3
    9. In the "Batch Encode" window hit "Run"

    Hope this helps.

  3. Oh ok...crap. You can't just say, cut at 700 MB or something? You actually have to find the cut points yourself?
How will you know that when you cut "Here" it will 700 MBs and then when you cut "There" it will be 700 MBs and then cut "Here" and it will be 100 MBs?

Thanks for your quick reply, I'm trying to do this tonight.

    Thanks!

  4. Nevermind, I finally found the 3 parts I had origanally d/l'ed. I joined them and thought that I had deleted the parts, but I found them...

But if I hadn't found them, could someone please help me with the previous reply questions? (That is, if I had to split, a step-by-step how to )

    Thanks for all the help!

You don't really, what I dd was estimate... Total file size is "X", that is less than 3 CDRs, time is "Y". Divide "Y" by 3 and you get approximately what would fit on a CDR. Then I always went in and split the file at a sceen change closest to the time limit. That way you change CDs between scenes.
