  1. And I'm not sure what's more wacky, a seal killing someone or snorkeling in Antarctica!

Why do scientists have to mess with nature. Leave them alone, and they will leave you alone.

Yeah, pretty much along the lines of pencillin is good for anything, so why bother trying to find other medicine's?
Jeesh, whilst I can't speak for the poor bugger involved, scientists aren't messing with nature they're stretching the boundaries of their intellect, they're attempting to expand the sphere of human knowledge whether it be nature, space exploration, whatever...
Why trek single-handed to the North Pole?
Why try cross the Atlantic single handed?
These are the things inbuilt into 5% of the population and a bloody good thing too.

Yeah I'm wanting to do video production/ movie making for a living. I love movies and have fun making them

Kung Fu 3 thus far has no blood/guts/murder/kill kill kill in it, but what it does have is some wicked fighting and special effects. If you liked Kung Fu 1 better than Kung Fu 2, then I think you'll like what we're doing with Kung Fu 3.

Here's a link if you'd like too. It's kinda dark and all, but it was our first video.

I agree,a couple months back on tv there was a documentary on sharks in the Carribean. This one species is endangered so these "scientists"were going to tag some sharks to study their daily habits. The "scientists" were using a net to capture sharks but as most laypeople know if a shark stops moving it suffocates, sure enough they killed this endangered shark.

  10. i reckon as long as there is no cruelty involved its ok to learn from animals, but u CANT blame them if something goes wrong!

moviegeek- inm sure they know what they were doing + sharks can survive for a reasonable amount of time out of water.

i thought kung fu 1 was by far the best also, u need lots of interaction with objects etc in films i reckon (like jackie chan!)

Will has it right on this one. Scientists do a damn good job of uncovering the mysteries and many of us reap the benefits.

Asking a scientist to stop exploring is like asking a fish to stop swimming. In many cases scientific discoveries are bastardized by the military or the government often leading to destruction of people, wildlife, and habitat, so it's very ironic that its also scientists that are coming up with new ways of saving endangered species. They cannot do this without data, and it takes going into the wild to perform tests to collect the data.

It's basically a snake eating its tale. It's the nature of man and the universe and it's playing out in grand form.

MovieGeek, you think you might know the name of the "endangered" shark they killed? The only shark that I know could be considered endangered would be the Greenland shark. The Greenland shark is also the newest shark known to mankind..so we don't know much about them. But you said the Caribbean...so i'd really like to know which shark which was endangered ended up being killed in the net?

I know all sharks numbers are on the decline due to the price of fins and shark fin soup as well as just commercial fishing in general. The Great Whites numbers have increased over the last few years...mainly due to the fact that it's illegal to catch them now...but i'm curious as to which of the caribbean sharks was considered endangered...if you know..plz let me know.

  13. @defense,
Sorry I don't recall(I should be a politician )what species it was.
    @all pro-environmentalists
Another example of biologists/environmentalists going overboard is in Modesto,CA the state wants to build a university but there is a bird that nests near the lot so the university is on hold pending an environmental review.Another case in Riverside,CA a few years back where some houses were being built and some environmentalists sued because a rare fly was found in the area, give me a break.
I'm all for saving species that have been hunted or poisoned to near extinction by man but we shouldn't be playing God(or mother nature) in trying to save(and spend millions of taxpayers dollars) a species that can't survive.Strapping a transmitter to the back of a bird is cruel and unnatural, biologists should observe animals using telephoto equipment and let them live in peace.

    Sorry for the rant
