Great I have burned about 150 of these in the past at 2x on my Sony. I will have to go get another 50 today.
-
Would these be good for 2x in my a04? I'm looking for something that is reliable and will burn past 4gb well.
-
I bought some of these dvds and they will record and play on my pc (pioneer 105) but not in my stand alone player (Pioneer 333).

Why is this a good sale?
You can get TDK media from Best Buy any day of the week (superior media) for less than $2 if you want to buy bulk, or $2 a piece for 25. Same for Verbatim (also better media).
To me a sale in a local store is only a sale if the media is priced at $1.50 or below (and, of course, name brand media)."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -
to each it's own, but if my math is correct then $9.99 divided by 10 is less than 1 dollar. Besides users in this forum verify that this is a reliable media and i can verify this.

LOL. You're right -- it was *way* too early in the morning for me to be reading (and responding :>) in this forum (5am local time). For some odd reason I kept thinking this was 5 for $10.
Sigh -- it's hell to get old, although better considering the alternative."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -
Does anyone else know if it is any good. I see compusa has a lot of these dvd-rs in stock. They come with the jewel cases and everything. I see that they are made in taiwan.
-
They are pretty good. I use discs with the same media code and have had a 100% success rate. Its sold in bulk for an even lower price at Rima.

The compUSA media has worked everytime for me. No Coasters!

The CompUSA media is high quality IMO. They look really good and I think even have a coating on the record side so they won't scratch easy. They burn at 2x for me on my Sony burner. I have burned at least 150 of these in the past with zero errors. The normal price for a pack of ten is $29.95 so for $10 this is a bargain.

I just got my two COMPUSA $9.99 10-packs today. The first one off the stack in one of the 10-packs has a cover that reads "4.7GB GENERAL USE 120 MINUTE VIDEO SPEED 1X" Using DVDinfo, it reads as PRINCO 1X. I think it might be a crap shoot as to what media you get depending upon when you order it and which warehouse it comes out of, which mostly depends upon your geographic location, I think.

I just used one of my COMPUSA PRINCO 1X disks to copy a disk of a movie I had burned with DVDXCOPY EXPRESS. (DVD XCOPY EXPRESS won't burn copies of its own copies.) with NERO. It took 49 minutes to burn it :P(not counting the time spent reading the original), but it worked. So at least they are useable.

I have bought these COMP-USA discs three times now. The first batch was LD01, burned with my A04 1x. 3.8gb seemed to be max before burn went bad. Then I saw somewhere on this forum that COMP-USA DVD-r's were now Optodisk so I bought a 2 pack for $3. They were Optodisk and burned 1x all the way to 4.37 gb no problems. Then this weeks sale 10 for $10. So I went to get more. Same newer green label as the Optodisk, guess what Princo. Burned 1x only good to 3.8 gb, failed after that when reading back with dvdspeed. The LD01 which many feel are Accu's (and I have some of them from cdrdvdrmedia.com) burn with no errors but are inconsistent with max file size. They don't fail but burn gets real bad around 4 gb with most discs. I only burned these 2 Optodisk but they both are great to 4.37 gb. Can't understand why COMP-USA has at least 3 different discs made for them. You never know what you are getting until you got it!!! I burn TDK 2x from Target perfect all the way 4.37 gb every time (no lie). Optimum from Staples (info CMC MAG) burns 2x excellent to 4.37 gb also. Ritek GO3 burn 1x perfect all the time to 4.37 gb. Ritek GO4 4x discs burn 2x to about 3.8 gb before turning bad. If I burn them at 1x they completely suck! Read fails or is so bad the disc is junk. Does anybody have AO4 burner with FW 1.41 with any other news? I read all my burns with DVDspeed to check the quality. I must say TDK always perfect. Ritek GO3 perfect. Optimum perfect. Optodisk (2 discs) perfect. Princo, Accu, Lead Data, LD, Ritek GO4 burn to 3.8 gb to be safe. Khypermedia is total junk. I know they are dvdinfo CMC also but JUNK. Returned 50 to Office Max after buying them over time during sales. It seems everyone has different results but checking with DVDspeed is the best way to see the burn. Even though your DVD player plays the disc all the way doesn't mean it is a good burn!

I purchased some of these once when they were on sale, big problems if you filled the disc, its hit and miss with them depending on who the real manufactuer is. And I do tech support for compusa (indirectly) so I get calls from people with computers with DVD burners were the sales guy had them buy a ton of these, poor customers.

@ebenton, you obviously don't have enough knowledge on this subject to support your post.
It does as far as I'm concerned! That's sort of like saying, "Just because the cake tastes great, because you didn't follow the recipe exactly, it's not a good cake."
I have read enough on this to know..and myself and another poster named "Disburbed" had both purchased the same media a while back. The disks were LeadData/Sony ACCU's and on the Lead Data's...we had a very SMALL percentage of disks with erorrs towards the ends of the disks. The problems were that the disks would just lock up and freeze. The difference though was that he didn't have the issues on HIS standalone players...but when testing on OTHER standalones..the issues were there. I had the issues on my standalone player which plays everything I've ever thrown at it....but I also had the issue on 2 different DVD ROMS. So it was obvious that our issues were similar but not identical....and that in SOME CASES you can have your standalone or DVD ROM correct the parts of the disks which would otherwise studder.
Check the last twenty minutes of all your disks on 10 different standalones...and if you have problem disks...you'll see this issue on some of them. -
I have bought 30 of these worked fine for me so far. Also bought dvd-rws so far so good. No Problems! I was trying to read (?) who made, i did not see the name on it.

I am not trying to minimize anybody's concern with these details, despite my flippant "cake" remark.
