When I encode a divx file to mpeg2 and use Ulead Dvd workshop, UDW only shows half the movie. I shouldn't say half it actually varies. For example, if a movie is 2 hours long after I encode it and send it to edit section in UDW. It will only play up to 55 minutes. It didn't do it at first. This has only began lately. The mpeg2s play fine and all the way on my media player. I use TMPGEnc and Cucusoft Avi to Dvd encoders. Is the original divx file the problem or do I have TMPGEnc and Cucusoft programed wrong. Or is it Dvd workshop.

Well, the prevailing rule of thumb is when you get a suspect AVI files, always check it for bad frames with Virtual Dub. Please do that and tell us what you find.

I've already used Virtual Dub and the files checked out. I even d-loaded the DivFix from the tool section and cut out the bad frames it found. But the problem still remains.

There was nothing in your original post about it, so forgive me believing it had not been done. Anyway, have you tried to frameserve to TMPGEnc from Virual Dub yet?

Its my fault I should've said something. I haven't tried to frameserve yet. How does that work? I'm still some what of a novice. And I don't want to screw things up worse than they already are.

You cannot with frameserving, as it does not change the original file. Click here.

Is your audeo mp2, wav or ac3?
Are you using dvdworkshop 1.0, 1.2 or 1.3?

  8. Let me guess, this file is NTSC film (23.976 fps). DVD workshop has a bug in it which will not show the whole film in the preview window, although it will author them fine and they will play ok. The main problem is you can't put chapter entry points towards the end of the movie. It has no problems with PAL(25fps) or NTSC(29.97) files.
